NOTES OF THE WEEK.
1. A little boy was before the Children’s Court last week on a charge of stealing newspapers to read. There are copies of both “Times” and “Star” on a file for the use of the public, just inside the office door, so there is no need for any others to steal newspapers. Come in and read them and leave them tidy. 2. Aunt Hilda records a special greeting to those whose birthday falls on the same date as her own, viz., March 12. 3. Several general knowledge papers have arrived with no names attached. 4. Numbers of little people write “I have not wrote.” What is wrong? 5. Will some kind person send Jack Hart, Box 191, Greymouth, some “Sporting Holiday in New Zealand” cards and also some sixth series De Reske’s to Aunt Hilda? Thank you. 6. Jockeys and jockeys riding green leaves, brown leaves, red leaves, mottled leaves. How you all loved your painting last week! 7. Two good cqntributions came in during the week, both on the subject of spring. But this is autumn! Do you see the mistake? 8. Only one quite correct general knowledge paper this week. That shows the need of this little weekly feature. 9. In answer to inquiries we will have our usual fancy dress party later in the year. I believe you’d like about six or seven! A.H.
