The feeling in Labour circles is that Monday’s conference of coalowners and miners’ representatives will again be abortive, and that the miners are in a stronger position to resist a compromise than heretofore by reason of the stiff levies to be imposed tipon all Unionists by the Trade Union Conference for their sustenance.
