Mrs Pairman Farewelled. Y r esterday afternoon, at her beautiful home in Durham Street, Mrs James Maling. assisted by her two daughters, entertained the members of the committee and others, who have been associated with Mrs J. C. Pairman in her work at the Cholmondeley Memorial Children’s Home. Dr and M»s J. C. Pairman will leave next week for a trip abroad, and it was for the purpose of bidding her bon voyage that Mrs Maling invited her friends to afternoon tea. Bowls of bright summer flowers were arranged about the di aw-ing-room and dining-room, where the guests chatted together over a dainty afternoon tea. Apologies for their unavoidable absence were received from Mesdames West-Watson, Croasdaile Bowen and J. A. FTesher. Mrs FI. Holland, in asking Mrs Pairman’s acceptance of a travelling rug bearing her monogram, said that the commitee could not let her go without expressing their appreciation of the good work she had done during the sixteen years that she had been con nected with the home. *For the last eleven years Mrs Pairman had l»een personally responsible for admitting all the children who had partaken of the hospitality of the home, and s'*-3 had cheerfully worked hard for their c.*re and well-being. She had aiso given the use of her house for committee meetings, and had thoughtfully ’-r----ranged to leave it ready for meetings during her absence. Mrs Holland also asked the guest of honour to express to her husband. Dr Pairman. the committee’s appreciation of his good work in attending to each child upon its admittance and looking after its health during its stay at the home. ‘‘ We wish you a pleasant journey and a very happy holiday,” concluded Mrs Holland. Mrs Pairman thanked the committee for their handsome gift, and also for the kind references to Dr Pairman and herself. . Those present were:—Mrs J. C. Pairman, Mrs James Maling, Mesdames FI. Holland, C. 11. Wagstaff, George Way, Walter Harper, 11. D. Andrews, M. Lewin, W. Chrystall, Miss Alexander, Misses Molly and Gendy Maling.
