HAVE NO INTENTION OF FLYINO ACROSS TASMAN. LONDON, February 8. Flying Officers H. L. Piper and C Kay,- New Zealand members of the R.A.F., who have obtained three
months’ leave to visit their homes, have purchased a Desoutter three-seater air taxi of the latest pattern, with a cruising speed of 100 miles an hour. They have altered it to a two-seater and have installed an extra petrol tank in place of the third seat, giving the monoplane a range of 850 miles. Their first stop will be at Lyons, and after that their route will be Naples, Malta, Tripoli, Baghdad, Karachi, Rangoon, Koepang, Darwin. If they reach Egypt under three days they will attempt to beat Hinkler’s record to Australia.
