PRINCE CATCHES COLD IN AFRICA.

HAS RECOVERED WELL ENOUGH TO PLAY GOLF. (United Press Assn.—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright.) CAPE TOWN, February 1. The Prince of Wales contracted a cold on the journey to Johannesburg, but is now much better. After breakfast and a rest, he played a round of golf at the Country Club with his equerry. It has been deemed inadvisable for him to go down the Crown mines as had been arranged. The train stopped to allow the Prince to visit the battlefields of Belmont, Magersfontein and Moddei River. He visited the direct recovery process pulsator at a diamond-cutting factory at Kimberley. University girl students who were desirous of presenting him with a bouquet at Johannesburg on behalf of their fellow students were not allowed by the police to approach the Prince, but a seven-year-old girl slipped through the cordon and offered a buttonhole of carnations to the Prince. He shook her hand warmly, and the crowd cheered loudly at the courteous act.

When tlje Prince left in the evening, he had benefited by the invigorating air. He will arrive at Buluwayo on Monday morning. A golf match has i been arranged, and he will leave at noon for Salisbury, and Beira.
