LADY SWIMMERS NOT TO VISIT DOMINION.
(Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, February 3. No visit to the Dominion will be paid by the Australian lady swimming champions, Jean Cocks and Edna Davev, this summer, according to the statement made by the secretary cf the Mount Eden Swimming Club, Mr H. Moore. The New Zealand Swimming Council, which had extended the invitation to the ladies, has decided to abandon the project, but the reason for this action has not been stated. “The club was originally the first to extend the invitation to the. swimmers concerned to visit Auckland,” said Mr Moore. “However, the New Zealand Council also invited them, and Mount Eden Club was compelled to give way in favour of the parent body The council has now offered the control of the tour to the club, but to the lateness of the season .he club has reluctantly declined the o ier.”
