YOUNG MAN DROWNED IN THE WAIMAKARIRI.

Norman Priest, a youth aged about eighteen years, was drowned while bathing in the Waimakariri near Kim berley yesterday afternoon. Deceased, who was unable to swim, went in for a bathe near one of the groynes. It is not known how the ac cident occurred. The river was normal, but there are very deep pools round j the groynes. Deceased was accompa nied by a younger brother, aged about nine years’ The body was recovered by his lather and his twin brother. An inquest will be held, but the date has not yet been fixed. Deceased was an employee of the Malvern Power Board. His father, Mr Thomas Priest, of Kimberley, is em ployed as a timber mill hand.
