NEW MOTOR VESSEL ARRIVES TO-DAY.
SHE WILL BE OPEN TO PUBLIC THIS EVENING. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s new motor-ship Rangitata arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington this morning. The vessel is in the 17,000-ton class and she was a very pretty sight as she steamed up the harbour. This is her maiden voyage, on which she set out from Southampton and London late in November. The Rangitata is a sister ship to the Rangitiki, -which visited L> r ttelton in April last, and like that vessel is the last word in comfort and luxury for overseas passenger service. In response to numerous requests, the company has arranged to throw the vessel open to the public this evening between 7 and 9.30 o’clock. She is lying at the Gladstone Pier. It is expected that the Rangitata •will leave for Tokomaru Bay to-mor-row afternoon.
