WAIMAKARIRI RIVER RISES RAPIDLY.
Owing to the strong north-west wind which prevailed yesterday, and the heavy rainfall experienced at the Bealey last evening, the Waimakariri has risen rapidly, and at noon to-day v.-as seven feet above normal. The river was still rising, and it is expected that it will rise another foot or so before it starts to subside.
