Following protests against the use of the 1928 Prayer Book in Exeter Cathedral, more than 100 took part in a procession to the Cathedral carrying banners appealing to the Government to restrain the Bishops from introducing an illegal and- unscriptural Prayer Book. A large crowd witnessed the ceremony of a copy of the 1928 book being soaked in petrol and being burned in the Cathedral close.
