ASHBURTON SWEPT BY SEVERE NOR’-WESTER.
(Special to the “ Star.**) ASHBURTON, January 20. One of the most severe north-west gales experienced for a long time swept over the county to-day. Reports state that a number of trees were uprooted, breaking down electric poles. Telephone communication with outlying centres was interrupted.
