Kuku will leave Wellington this evening for Kaikoura and Lyttelton. The vessel is due here on Wednesday morning, and loads that day for Kaikoura and Wellington, sailing at night. Karetu is expected to leave Lyttelton this evening for Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff, thence Australia. Storm, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton yesterday. She is timed to -u.il this evening for Bluff, Dunedin and Timaru. Waipahi left Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon for Oamaru, where she will complete unloading coal from Westport, she will afterwards proceed to Dunedin to load for 'Wellington, Napier and Gisborne. It is expected that the vessel will return to Lyttelton on Thursday to continue her loading. Gale is expected to return to Lyttelron on Thursday from Timaru to load for Wellington and Wanganui. Kahika, from Timaru, made a call at Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon, and left that evening for Wellington, New Plymouth and Nelson. Wingatui, from Timaru, arrived at Lyttelton 3’esterday to load for Wellington and Auckland. She is expected to leave for the north this evening. Narbada, after a prolonged stay of ten days through wet weather and shortage f labour, left Lyttelton on Saturday morning for Timaru, Dunedin and Sydney. TEES ARRIVES. The Chatham Island steamer Tees arrived at Lj’ttelton from Waitangi this afternoon. She leaves for Waitangi again to-morrow. TURAKINA TO LOAD. Turakina will leave Wellington on Thursday for New Plymouth, where the vessel will commence Homeward JoadSURREY FOR NEW YORK. Surrey is expected to clear Auckland to-morrow for New York, Halifax and London. THE CUMBERLAND. The Federal steamer Cumberland is due at Lyttelton on Friday to discharge Liverpool cargo. From Lyttelton she will proceed to Dunedin. Bluff and Timaru to put out the balance of her cargo. FERNDALE DUE TO-MORROW. The Ferndale, which arrived at Timaru on Friday from Cairns (Queensland) is due here to-morrow to continue her loading for London. OTAKI LEAVES NEW YORK. A cable message reports that the Otaki, under charter to the A. and A. Line, left New York on January 9, aftd resumed her voyage from Newport News on January 11, with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland on February 12. THE KAIMIRO. The Union Company's new cargo steamer Kaimiro is scheduled to load at South Australian ports towards the end of February. She will then complete loading at Melbourne, and Hobart for Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington andAuckland. THE MAHANA. Mahana is timed to leave Wanganui to-day for New Plymouth. The vessel is expected at Wellington on Friday. ROTORUA DUE AUCKLAND TO-MORROW. The Federal Company received a wireless meassage yesterday frow}, the liner Rotorua, en route from Liverpool, reporting that the vessel will arrive at Auckland to-morrow afternoon. The ship, in addition to passengers, has cargo to land at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. RUAPEHU AT LONDON. Ruapehu, which left Port Chalmers on December 4 for Magalanee, Montevideo, London, and West Coast ports, arrived at London on Friday. PIAKO ARRIVES HOME. No doubt a good understanding between two principal officers of a vessel has its advantages. PORT DARWIN ARRIVES. The C. and D. Line motor-ship, Port Darwin, arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday morning from Wellington to coipnlete loading for London. It is expected that she will make her departure on Wednesday. RANGITATA DUB ON WEDNESDAY. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s new motor-liner Rangitata is due at Lyttelton on Wednesday from Wellington to load for London. Other loading ports are Tokomaru Bay, Auckland, Napier and Wellington. She leaves Wellington on February 8 for SouthampTAINUI DISCHARGING. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s liner Tainui is completing her unloading at Lyttelton. She will sail at the end of the week or early next week for Port Chalmers to commence loading for London. SULPHUR FROM JAPAN. The Japanese steamer, Toyohiko Maru, with 2000 tons of sulphur from Muroran, Japan, arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday. The vessel left Japan ott December 14 and experienced a good passage to Auckland. From Lj’ttelton the vessel proceeds to Port Chalmers, thence Wanganui, to complete unloading. She will then cross over to Australia for instructions. Captain G. Kawamoto is in command of the vessel, which carries a crew of forty-one Japanese. PACIFIC COAST CARGO. The O. and O. Line’s steamer Golden Cross, from Los Angeles and San Francisco, arrived at Lyttelton yesterday, via Auckland and Wellington. PERSONAL, Kaikorai recommissions to-day with Captain J. G. Beaton, chief officer of the Kaimai, is ashore on sick leave, Mr Matthew Graham Harvey, well known In Auckland shipping circles, died recently at Huntly, aged eightythree years. Born at Ayr, Scotland, Mr Harvey was apprenticed to Youngs, Ltd., on the Clyde, and over fifty years of Ills long life was spent on the sea, he having only retired ten years ago. Mr Harvey first sailed from London as an engineer on an Anchor Line steamer. He was next with the Shaw, Savill and Albion Line. In 1897 he came to New Zealand and entered the ser\’ie© of the Northern Steamship Company, being for some time chief engineer of the Ngapuhi. Mr Harvey was known to many of his friends as “ Bonnie Docn." Mr J. Taylor has joined the Katoa as second engineer in place of Mr J. Brown, who has resigned to take up a shore appointment. Mr J. J. Wingatui arrived over the week-end to load for Wellington and Auckland via Lyttelton. Narbada is in port to discharge woolpacks and general from Calcutta and ports. Ferndale is at present loading frozen meat and general here for London. Karetu discharges -general Sydney cargo here to-day, lifts return and proceeds south, thence to Launceston and Sydney. Gale is due to-morrow to load for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui. Kurow on Wednesday discharges Aucklanl cargo, returning on Monday next to load for Wellington and Auckland Via Lyttelton. Waipahi, Thursday will lift cargo for Wellington, Napier and Gisborne. Breeze on Thursday loads for Wellington and Wanganui. Waipiata, to load for Wellington and Auckland, is due on Thursday. Storm loads here on Thursday for Wellington and Wanganui via Lyttelton. Kurow on Monday next loads for Wellington and Auckland. Cumberland to load meat and general for Home, is due on February 3 at Timaru. Port Brisbane, on February 19. has general cargo from London for discharge here. Golden Cloud is scheduled to arrive ■ here on February 11, with drum and case oil, timber and general, taking back empty drums. Canadian Highlander .should be here on January 28, sailing the same day for Wellington, tf> load wool for Canada.
