LITTLE GIRL SAVED AT CORSAIR BAY.

SMART RESCUE BY YOUNG SWIMMER.

The prompt action of a young man prevented a probable drowning fatality at Corsair Bay on Thursday afternoon. Mollie Beckett, aged four years, who lives at 47, Canterbury Street, Lyttelton, fell into the water from a board by the enclosure at the west side of the hay. The child apparently did not realise the danger of her position, for she did not cry out. There were many bathers about, but few were in the immediate vicinity and the accident might easily have passed unnoticed. A young man on the raft anchored in the bay was quick to notice the accident, however, and Jie swam with all speed to the scene and brought the little girl safely ashore. The girl was not affected much, and she soon recovered on arrival home.
