WIRTH BROTHERS’ CIRCUS
BETTER THAN USUAL. Wirth Bros.’ huge combination of circus and menagerie will open in Christchurch on Saturday afternoon, December 21, for a short season only. The season which the world-famous circus has just concluded in Sydney, West Australia and Melbourne has undoubtedly eclipsed all its predecessors. Sensation follows sensation with such bewildering rapidity that, difficult as it may appear for anything of the kind to happen, Wirths have this year really excelled themselves in their offering for the community’s entertainment. Some of the new artists are:—The Lias Troupe of six Risley acrobats—the highest-salaried artists in the world; the Flying La Mars, extraordinary trapeze artists; the Three Arconas, famous for their balancing feats; and Claudia Alba, world’s famous feminine athlete and partner. Then there are new trained animal acts, Miss Madeline, in her serpentine dance on horseback; Mr Philip Wirth’s, jun.’s, trained horses and ponies; and the Santey Duo. Fully a score of other turns round out a great programme, which is pre- 1
ceded by an hour allowed for the inspection of the animals in the menagerie, whose numbers have been added to since the show visited this city, and now includes two black panthers and two baby leopards, six polar and five brown bears. The zoo is open from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The box plan is at The Bristol.
