POLICE CAMP TO BE SET UP NEAR N.S.W. MINE.
GOVERNMENT TO TAKE STEPS TO PROTECT VOLUNTEER WORKERS. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received December 11, 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 11. Before Rothbury Colliery is opened by the Government, a police camp •will be established adjacent to the mine. Arrangements are also being made to enable the miners to live in tents. Similar plans apply to two or three other collieries. The Rothbury miners, who decline to work under the terms recommended by the Union leaders, will be refused the dole by Government. The same course will be followed with other mines as the Government takes them over. The Cabinet intends to man the Rothbury mine forthwith and it is expected that coal-hewing will start early next week. STATE GOVERNMENT WILL OPEN MINES. STRIKERS TO DECIDE ON FIGHTING POLICY. That preparations are almost complete for opening the Rothbury Colliery on the terms which the miners’ leaders advised the men to accept was announced by the Premier, Mr T. R* Bavin, at the conclusion of a meeting of the Cabinet to-day. Steps are also being taken to secure the opening of other mines. Delegates of all the miners’ lodges will meet at Newcastle to-morrow to formulate a policy for the continuance of the strike, in accordance with the resolutions passed at the aggregate meetings.
