Per Press Association. ' CARTERTON, December 6. In the Carterton Police Court this morning before Justices, a full-blooded Maori, Taukuriki Kopu, aged twentyseven, commonly known as Krooki was charged with assaulting a voung Maori girl, aged ten, with intent to commit a crime. Evidence was given by the girl s mother, sister and brother. The girl’s mother is also a sister to Krooki The Justices stated that they took a very serious view of the case, and sentenced accused to six months’ hard labour.
