ATHLETICS.
CANTERBURY CENTRE. The Executive of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met last night. Present —Messrs It. Beattie (in the chair), R. Pearson, W. Flewellyn, R. Hill, E. Todd, C. Sanderson, C. H. Taylor, M. Leadbetter, E. H. Cross, G. G. Lockwood, T. A. Grose and G. L. Austin (honorary Se Tlie ai Pleasant Point Caledonian Society wrofe asking permission to hold their annual gathering on December 28, and submitting the following events for approval:—looyds, 220yds, 440yds and S 8 oyds handicaps. The request was granted, and the programme approved. The Waikari Sports Association was granted permission to hold their annual gathering on Easter Monday. The Temuka Caledonian Society’s apnlication to include two amateur events on their programme for Boxing Day was held oyer, pending inquiries being made in Timaru and Waimate regarding tv»ft effect of this on their gatherings. The newly-formed Prebbleton Club’s annlicatlon for affiliation was granted, sub Sect to approval of the constitution. The club was also granted permission to hold « gathering for members on < granted for the usual amateurgathering to be held at Halsr?ve O „VS».«^ru5S?„ B %Wc?!^ was approved.

The Kaiapoi, Club’s application for J gear necessary in connection with field and hurdling: events in the country clubs’ championship meeting on December 14 was granted. The following were appointed officials to attend thte meeting:—Messrs Beattie, Cross, Flewellyn, Hill, Grose, LOCkwood, Taylor and Austin. Recommendations from the Papanui Club regarding the control of cycling were referred to the Cycling Committee to bring down a report at the coming quarterly meeting. It was decided that the cycling subcommittee be authorised to discuss disqualification matters with the professional cycling body. ~ _ It was reported that the Christchurch Cycling Club had gone out of existence, and its affiliation was cancelled. It was decided that in future the secretary accept only such entries as come to hand in the proper manner, the decision arising out of a discussion concerning late entries.
