PIGEON FLYING CLUB ARRANGES RACE FROM TE KUITI.
The Canterbury Pigeon-Flying Club flew a race from Te Kuiti last Saturday. Thirty-two birds were sent, divided among fifteen owners. The birds were liberated at noon with a strong northerly wind. The winning bird proved to bo Mr W. Unwin’s Black B*ess, which flew the distance of 406 miles 825 yards in 9hr 54min 55sec. The following are the results:— Yards per min. W. Unwin’s Black Bess 1202 A. W. Jones’s No. 800 3190 O. Robertson’s No. 54 .... 1184 O. Manson’s, uiirung 1153 F. Kingsford’s No. 12 1149 IT. Rule’s Sunset 113 S W. E. Simes's No. 1454 .... 1068 W. H. Ilagger’s No. 279 926 Dr M’Killop’s No. 719 900 A. Stone’s No. 148 892 N. Rolton’s No. 617 83* H. May’s Blue Boy 885 Mr Unwin won the nominated bird prize and also secured a leg-ln for the club's trophy.
