Rugby Internationals.
Some of the Rugby stars at Home have wonderful records in international matches. Eight of them have played on over thirty occasions—G. V. Stephenson (38), J. M. Bannerman (37), R. M. Owen (35), W. J. Bancroft (33), A. Cassayet (32), W. W. Wakefield (31), and W. E. Crawford and G. T. Hamlet (30 each). Bannerman has played in every match with Scotland since the first game in 1921, but in that period his team did not meet the All Blacks. Stephenson missed the match with Scotland last season through an injury, but played in the last match of 1920 and also against the All Blacks. Owen has the unique record of having played against the three Home unions, in addition to France, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia. Then there is the case of Cyril Lowe, who played in twentyrfive successive matches for England,/from 1913 to 1923. His record was upset owing to the war period.
