HEATHCOTE COUNCIL DISCUSSES MATTERS AFFECTING DISTRICT.
A meeting of the Ileathcote County Council was held last evening. There were present: Councillors J. L. Danks (chairman), C. Flavell, J. F. Scott, W. Kerr and A. G. W illiams. A letter was received from Mr J Duthie, stating that the pipes and specials for the pipe line to the upper reservoir 2were arriving per the s.s. Kent and Port Hunter. The National Electrical Engineering Company advised that some of the street lighting fittings would arrive by the s.s. Keelung. Councillor Scott was appointed to re. present the council at the conference of local bodies to be held on November 26. Mr 11. S. E. Hobday wrote stating that a subsidy towards the payment of £he interest for the erection of the electric line to Morten Settlement could not be arranged. The District Highways Council forwarded the estimates for construction on main highways for the current year The county's proportion from the “Takahe” to the “Sign of the Kiwi,” on a £3 to £1 basis, was £2500.
