NURSE WAS RESCUED FROM DROWNING BY TWO YOUNG MEN.
D er Press Association. DUNEDIN, November 14. A young woman named Calder, a nurse, had a narrow escape from drowning while swimming at St Clair beach. When one hundred yards out, she was seen to throw her arms up, signalling for help. Richard Coxon swam out and got hold of the young woman, but could make no headway against the undertow. Ivan Turnbull swam to his assistance with a life line against a strong current, and the three got ashore exhausted. Miss Calder, on recovering, said that she would have drowned but for the youths’ promptness and courage.
