HIGHWAYS COMMITTEE OF PROGRESS LEAGUE TO PREPARE PLANS.

Next year’s paving programme for North Canterbury from the Rangitata to the Conway will be considered at a meeting of the Highways Committee of the Canterbury Progress League tomorrow evening. Other questions relating to permanent roads will also be considered. In view of the fact that some difficulty has been found in past years in adhering to the programme on account of the seasonal requirements, the committee is preparing next year’s programme much sooner than has been the case in the past. The decisions of the committee will be reported to a meeting of the executive next Wednesday evening. Prior to the meeting of the executive on Wednesday evening, the film depicting the activities of the party which traversed the Lewis Pass route some months ago will be screened in the Navy League Hall, the screening taking place at 7.15 p.m.
