OTHER OCCUPANTS HAVE NARROW ESCAPE WHEN OLD BUILDING IS DESTROYED. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, October 28. THE Carriers’ Arms Hotel at Riverton, an old two-storeyed wooden building, was destroyed by fire at half-past two this morning. Mrs Trembath, wife of the licensee, and her infant were trapped and burnt to death. The licensee, William Trembath, formerly a well-known professional runner, and the boarders, escaped. Nothing was saved except a few sporting trophies.
