AUCKLAND TROTS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, October 28. The weather was overcast after heavy /Bin for the wind-up of the Auckland Trotting Club’s spring meeting at Epsom, where the track was on the heavy side. There was a good attendance considering the counter-attraction of the Waikato Hunt meeting at Cambridge. Results:— GREEN LANE HANDICAP (In harness). Of 250 sovs. One mile and a half. 2 Linnett the Great, 36yds bhd 1 3 Peterson, 72yds bhd 2 I—Tamahine, 36yds bhd 3 All started. Heads separated the placed horses. Time —3min 38 2-ssec. NEWMARKET HANDICAP (In harness) Of 250 sovs. One mile and a half. 1— Belle Ax worthy, scr 1 2 Queen Elizabeth, scr 2 3 Master Huia, 24yds 3 Scr.: Cornelian. Won by a length and a half. Time—3min 31sec. NOTES ON THE RACING. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, October 28. In the Greenlane Handicap, Tamahine, carrying £779, was first choice, with Linnett the Great (£544) and Peterson (£473) next in request. When they were despatched, Eva Reta broke and Tamahine led along the back, followed by Audo Spray, Tamahine, Linnett the Great, and Eva Reta. Tamahine was still in front going past the stand from Linnett the Great, while Direct Action had run up to third. Along the back for the second time, Tamahine just lead Linnett the Great, with Peterson and Paradigm in close attendance. Tamahine was first into the straight, followed by Linnett the Great and Peterson. A great finish saw Linnett the Great win by a long head from Peterson, with Tamahine a head away in third place. Paradigm was eight lengths away fourth, with Direct Action and Golden Gate next. M’Kendrick Brothers purchased the winner on Saturday last. WELLINGTON RACES. Per Press Association. TRENTHAM, October 28. For the concluding day of the Wellington Racing Club’s spring meeting the weather was again dull but fine. The track was in excellent condition and the attendance was very large. Results: — l RONA HURDLES, Of 300 sovs. One mile nd a half. s—Brigadier Bill, 9.10 1 4 Novar, 10.0 2 T—Tresham, 10.4 3 Scratched: Otauru Lass. Won by two lengths. Time—2min 46£sec. SPRING TRIAL STAKES, Of 260 sovs. Seven furlongs. 3 Vali, S.O 1 4 Roundelay, 8.0 2 2—lmateagirl, 8.2 3 Scratched: Pat’s Boy. Won by a length, a length and a half between second and third. Time—lmin 28sec. GREYMOUTH TROTS. Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, October 28. The Greymouth trots were continued in brilliant weather, before a record attendance. Results:— TRADESMAN’S HANDICAP (In harness). Of 120 sovs. Ten furlongs and a half. 1— Denver City, scr 1 4 Kawane, scr 2 10—Bonnie Locanda, scr 3 Scratched: Don Locanda and Great Adventure. Won by three lengths. Times—3min 8 4-ssec, 3min 9 3-ssec, 3min 12sec. After two furlongs and a half Nelson Gara fell. Next time round, Kokana collided with a sulky and also fell. Neither horse was injured. WAVERLEY RACES. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, October 28. The Waverley races were held to-day in fine weather. There was a good attendance. MORTON MEMORIAL MAIDEN RACE. Of 125 sovs. Six furlongs. 2 Marcia, 8.11 1 5 Just an Idea, 8.1 * 2 4—Valina, 8.9 3 Won by three lengths. All started.
