" THREE LIVE GHOSTS ” IS COMING TO THE: CIVIC THEATRE.

Continuing the story’ of this wonderful picture from the last issue of the “ Times,” let it be briefly stated that the main characters are three British

soldiers who appear upon the scene after having been listed in the army r ecords as “ dead.” Foster, the American had. unknown to the others, joined the British Army to escape the disgrace attendant on his stealing bonds from his father’s office. He does not know a search is on to apprise him that, Ms father had died and willed him everything. Gubbins, the Cockney soldier’s mother, “ Old Sweetheart,” has been visited by an American detective, searching for ‘William Foster. He tells her Foster enlisted in Jimmie Gubbrns's regiment early in the war, and confides to her that there is a £IOOO reward for information leading to his whereabouts. The detective leaves a newspaper with Foster's picture and description and admonishes her to communicate with him at once should she see or hear of him. “ Old Sweetheart,” shrewd and with a strong taste for liquor, together with Peggy Woofers, Jimmie’s sweetheart, spend most of their time holding seances, trying to communicate with Jimmie in the spirit world, when the three pals enter Gubbins's home. The women are speechless until convinced that the three are very’ much alive. Recovered, the old woman warns Jimmie that he must remain "dead” until she collects the final instalment of his war insurance. She makes “Spoofy’” and Foster more-than welcome, the latter because he looms like £IOOO before her, and the shell-shocked soldier because he kisses her hand as if she were a woman of noble birth. Claude Alister, who was Algy in " Bulldog Drummond,” is “ Spoofy ” in " Three Live Ghosts,” and that fact alone is guaranand laughter. The box plan opens at The Bristol and The Farmers' on Wednesday.
