PUPILS’ RECITAL.
A large and appreciative audience attended the dance recital given by the pupils of Miss Evelyn Comvns Thomas at the Caledonian Hall on Saturday afternoon. The students were all excellent in their poise and grace and their footwork was particularly good Miss Thomas has trained the Greek classes to a remarkably high standard and one could not help but be im pressed by the understanding of their work. Individual care and attention was made apparent throughout, and each item on the programme was worthy of high praise. P. Wankly, one of the solo dancers, danced a Taran tella, wearing a bright cap and costume, and A. Buchanan, as a Lonely Nvmph, was very graceful. “Aragonaise,” danced by K. Jacobson, received much applause, and H. Allard, as an elf, danced effectively; M. Morrison in her Egyptian dance, looked most attractive and danced gracefully and well. Perhaps the most striking of all was a little maid, J. Felton, who danced “The Dance of the Fairy Pipers,” and later appeared as a powder puff in pink. A. Hill, as a golden dragon fly, provided a good number, as did M. Allard in “The Warrior.” P. and J. Barron danced a duo, “Ninette,” and M. Hansen gave a solo exhibition of Greek dancing. The programme, though a long one, was watched with the closest interest by the audience.
