HORTICULTURAL MEN VISIT BEAUTIFUL ILAM.

“ Ilam,” the beautiful residence of Mr E. F. Stead, was visited by a large party of members of the Canterbury Horticultural Society this afternoon for the purpose of inspecting the display of rhododendrons and azalias. Unfortunately the frost of Friday morning had caused great havoc, and though the flowers still showed wonderful glow of colour, the blooms usually at their best at this time of the year were mostly withered and dead. However the visitors spent a pleasant afternoon wandering about the estate with its delightful native bush.
