CHRISTCHURCH. Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M REMANDED. Albert Victor Taylor, of 49, Paparoa Street (Mr Bums) was charged with having been found in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motorcar in Harewood Road. He was remanded to appear on October 31. INCOME RETURNS. The following were fined with costs for failing to furnish a statement of their assessable income: Andrew Christie, £2; John Jatti3s Hurley. £2; end Henry M’Donald Vincent, £2 FAILED TO CLOSE. - Edith Lavers, for failing to close her shop at 1 p.m. on the statutory T-df-holiday, was fined 10s and costs LYTTELTON. Before Messrs W. C. Cleary, J.P., and F. E. Sutton, J.P.). INDECENT LANGUAGE. Joseph James Gallagher appeared on i charge of using indecent language, and procuring liquor while prohibited. He pleaded not guilty to the first charge. Evidence was given by Constables Mannix and Baynes, that the .ccused, who, on October 6, was under the influence of drink, was advised by them to go home. When he walk'd along the street he made use of he language complained of. There were 'eople in the street at the time. Gallagher stated that he could not member the language complained of. A fine c-f £2 and 10s costs was inflictd, in default seven days’ imprison~.ent. On the charge of procuring liquor, he case vras adjourned in order that TOujht be heard before a Magistrate. KAIAPOI. (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M. Alexander Anderson, charged with negligently driving a motor-car on the Rzmgiora-Ohoka Road, near Flaxton, was convicted and fined £3 and costs. Albert Leonard, charged with the disobedience of a maintenance order, being £ls 13s in arrears, was convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for two months, the warrant to be discharged on payment of all money due to date, ~-rd costs £2 2s.
