CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) CHARGE OF THEFT. Frederick William Barker, charged with the theft of a calf valued at 10s, was remanded for a week. THREE MONTHS’ GAOL. For soliciting in the streets, Florence Emma Emeny (Mr Simes) was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour. For being an incorrigible rogue, she was convicted and discharged. Wright was ordered to pay the Christchurch City Council £5 15s 5d forthwith, in default seven days’ imprisonment. J. Morgan was ordered to pay Elizabeth Tinnelly £2O 5s 6d forthwith, in default twenty-two days’ imprisonment. CLAIM FOR CHATTELS. Margaret Jane Piper, of Christchurch, married woman (Mr Tracy) claimed from John Sidney Piper, of Caledonian Road (Mr Brown) certain chattels or their value, £45 15s, and £5 damages for their wrongful retention by the defendant. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £5 14s and costs.
