WOOLSTON NOTES.

SOCIALS. A social and card evening was held recently at the residence of Mr and Mrs F. Daniels, Radley. The prizes for the cards were won by Mr Gracie, and Mr Wilson, and Mr and Mrs Edwards were awarded consolation prizes. The pro? ceeds of the social were in aid of the cake stall at the forthcoming bazaar at St John’s. Recitations by Mrs Daniels and songs by Mr Swainson were greatly appreciated. Music was supplied by Miss Swainson axid Mr Russell Beaumont. The St John’s Bible Class junior girls held a social in the Parish Hall on Friday evening, in aid of the bran tub. The evening was spent in games and dancing. FANCY DRESS DANCE. On Saturday evening the Boys' Senior Bible Class held a masquerade fancy dress dance in the St John’s Parish Hall. Novelty dances were won by Miss Wass and Mr C. Haskell, and Monte Carlo lucky spot by Miss Phyllis Fletcher and C. Lingard. GIFT AFTERNOON. On Saturday afternoon Mrs Harris held a gift afternoon in the St John’s Hall, in aid of the variety stall at the coming bazaar. GIRLS’ ROUNDERS. On Friday afternoon the Woolston school girls played a rounders match against the Richmond School, at Linwood Park. Woolston were the winners by 204 to 135. ST JOHN’S SCOUTS. On Wednesday evening the following members of the St John’s No. 9 Troop Scout Committee were present at a meeting in the Parish Room: Mrs Miskell, Messrs Beaumont, Melhuish and Cooper. The vicar presided. Mr David Stewart was appointed an additional member to the committee. A notification was received from headquarters appointing the Rev F. A. Tooley as Scoutmaster, and Miss K. Tooley as Cubmistress. It was decided to hold a Scouts’ social some time in November, the arranging of the programme being left to Mr S. Kivort.
