CHRIST’S COLLEGE SPORTS CONTINUED IN FINE WEATHER. TWO RECORDS EQUALLED IN MORNING EVENTS. The annual athletic sports of Christ’s Collegre were continued this morning:, under weather conditions which were vastly improved on those of yesterday. There was a bright sun which made the day most enjoyable for both spectators and competitors. T. A. Gresson made a smart run In the 440yds under sixteen, equalling the record of 57 l-ssee set by W. H. Simms in 1906, and equalled by it. F. Anderson last year. I). F. Anderson registered a fine performance in the , 140yd3 senior championship, covering the journey in 53 2-ssec, equalling the record of H. B. L. Johnstone in 1927. THB BSSPIiTS. The School and Condell’s teams gained a 4yds lead in the first lap, the-former increasing its lead in the last and winning by five yards. Gresaon got away from a good start, but Oldfield made a smart run through the field to catch the leader. The pair were abreast in an exciting race into the straight, Gresson showing the greater pace over the last part of the journey to win by 3yds and equal the record. Joseph and A. K. B. Oliver made the running at a fast pace for three-quarters of the distance, but was overhauled by Anderson at the turn into the straight. Le May ran up from well back in the third lap to lead by fifteen yards. He ran strongly, maintaining his lead. Armitage and Cox fought an exciting battle down the straight, Armitage getting to the tape a few inches ahead. Time—4min 48sec. Half-mile Handicap—A. D. le May (80yds) 1, J. S. H. Perkins (30yds) 2, J. W. Fisher (60yds) 3. The winner ran a well-judged race, going to the front in the second round. Bain ran in attractive style, leading all the way from Smith. who twice challenged unsuccessfully. Murray finished strongly. Time—s 9 3-osec. One Mile, under sixteen. (Record, smin 6 2-ssec, J. H. Nalder, 1918).D. H. Oldfield 1, P. T. Norris 2, R. A. Joseph 3. Oldfield led from the start, making a pace which soon had the field spreadeagled. He increased his lead in each lap, and, making a spirited dash down the straight, finished fifty yards ahead of Norris, with Joseph well back. Time —smln 11 3-ssec. 100yds, under thirteen. Of an entry of ten, seven jumped five feet and five jumped five feet one inch. Oliver and Binns jumped five feet two inches. The latter then dropped out. A good race, won by three yards. Time—s 7 3-ssec. SEVZOB CHAMPIONSHIP. The senior championship was won by D. F. Anderson, with 18 points, B. E. Oliver being runner-up, with 12 points. T. N. Bain won the junior championship with fifteen points. R. S. Douglas and B. P. Smtih were runers-up with five points each. The house challenge cup was won by School House, with 36 points, Julius House being runners-up with S 3 points.
