ST ALBANS BURGESSES’ ASSOCIATION MEETS.
The monthly meeting’ of the St Albans Burgesses’ Association was held last evening, Mr F. Proutlng presiding over a fair attendance. The chairman stated that, so far as could be seen, the association had come to a deadlock over the light in Trafalgar Street. It was resolved that the matter be left over till the next meeting. The chairman stated that the widen ing of Trafalgar Street had been provided for on the City Council estimates. It was decided that a remit be sent to the United Burgesses' Association suggesting that all poles at intersec tions be painted with a white band to a height of three fee.t. That the atten tion of the City Council again be drawn to the state of the council reserve in Trafalgar Street, and it is to be suggested that a six-foot iron fence be erected in preference to the post and paling fence. That the council be asked to set back the corner and pole at the intersection of Edgeware and Cale donian Roads. That the attention of the Department of HealLh be drawn to the state of some of the houses in Trafalgar Street. Three new members were elected and one resigned. Correspodence was received from the; City Council stating that it was unable , to take over and improve Keogh’s Lane, as the lane was undedicated, and therefore the council was legally debarred from spending money on it. It was decided that the City Council be asked to change of the colour of the paint on the top rail of the fence round St Albans Park, and i o construct an asphalt footpath on the south side of the park, outside the fence in Edward Avenue. it was decided, also that the f- lty C ° uncil ’ s attention be drawn to tne undecipherable street name plates m .St Alba-s with a rt:<iuCst that they
