Thousands of Londoners saw 13,000 officers and men of the Metropolitan Police inspected in Hyde Park on May 25 by the Prince of Wales, who afterwards headed the vast procession to Buckingham Palace, where, with Lord Byng, the Chief Commissioner, and other officials, His Royal Highness took th e salute at the main gates. General view as the police marched past Buckingham Palace and round the Queen Victoria Memorial. The Prince of Wales may be seen on a white charger, taking the salute in front of the main gate.
