Killed By Match Stalk. A verdict to the effect that he died from misadventure as the result of swallowing a partly-chewed match stalk was returned at the inquest, at Birmingham, on Alfred Evans (56), tool-set-ter, of Bordesley Green. It was stated that Evans, with the object of curing himself of the habit of chewing tobacco, used sometimes to chew a match stalk, and after his death a match stalk was found in his body. This had caused a puncture of an abscess.
