SPANISH CROWD EMBRACE BRITISH NAVAL OFFICERS.

EMBARRASSING WELCOME GIVEN RESCUERS OF ATLANTIC AIRMEN. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received July 5, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, July 4. The public reception accorded by Madrid to-day to Captain Lawrence and other officers of the aircraft-carrier Eagle, and to the Spanish airmen they recued, was embarrassingly fervid. Wild with enthusiasm, the crowds broke through the police, and the officers were embraced and showered with bouquets. The Spanish officers linked arms to protect the Englishmen from these attentions until the shelter of an hotel was reached. They will lunch with the Queen of Spain to-morrow.—Australian Press Association.
