DRIVER’S MIRACULOUS ESCAPE FROM DEATH. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, July 4. James Leatherby, aged twenty, had a miraculous escape last night when a motor-car, of which he was the sole occupant, was utterly wrecked and carried twenty yards to the cattle stops by the engine of a train at the Kamo Road level crossing. A few minor lacerations requiring temporary detention in hospital were the only ill effects Leatherby sustained.
