PROGRESS LEAGUE ELECTS COMMITTEES.
The first meeting of the newly-elected executive of the Canterbury Progress League was held last evening when Kir J. A. Flesher presided over a large attendance of members. The following committees were set up for the ensuing \-ear: —Standing and Finance—Messrs W. K. M’Alpine, J. H. Blackwell, J. H. Judd, W. Goss, W. P. Glue, G. 11. Holford, G. M. Hall, Frank Thompson, J. E. Strachan and M. W. Stevenson: Highways—Messrs J. E. Strachan (convener), G. Maginness, F. W. Freeman, F. W. Johnston, B. Falck, F. Langbein, W. J. Walter and Professor A. 11. Tocker; Railways and Transport—Messrs M. W. Stevenson (convener), C. H. Clibborn, C. 11. Bur son, F. W. Freeman, G. Maginness, W. Goss, F. E. Sutton. G. M. Hall and E. H. Wyles; Agricultural Research— Messrs G. 11. Ilolford (convener), J. E. Strachan, E. Freeman, G. 11. Judd. H. L. Darton, J. O. Coop and E. S. Taylor; Publicity and Tourist—Messrs C. H.
