MINISTER HEARS PLEA FOR RELIEF FROM HEAVY TRAFFIC TAX.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 3. A plea for relief from heavy motor vehicle taxation on behalf of the Hutt Valley produce growers was made to the Minister of Transport, the Hon W A. Veitch, to-day by a deputation representing the Dominion Council of Tomato, Soft Fruit and Produce Gtjwers’ Association It received a very sympathetic reply, the Minister remarking that the request must be considered favourable. Mr Veitch said the preparation of the Transport Bill which was to be presented to Parliament was well under way. and he was sure it would appeal to the people and that he would not have any trouble in getting it through the House. In the meantime he had done the best he could for all concerned. In conclusion, he said he was impressed with the reasonableness of the deputation’s request, and he was convinced he w r ould have to do something to give relief before the end of the year.
