On entering Papeete Harbour on June 22 the Tahiti struck one of the numerous coral reefs, and suffered minor damage to her hull on the port side in the vicinity of No. S hold. On the rest of the passage to Wellington the pumps were kept going to keep down any water she was making. A diver made an inspection of the damaged portion of the hull on Tuesday morning, and a start was made to effect the necessary repairs.
