CANTERBURY ASKS BIGGER PERCENTAGE FROM CUP GAiE. (Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND. July 4. At last night’s meeting of the Auckland Rugby League a letter was received from Canterbury asking that 60 per cent of the gross gate be allowed on the occasion of its challenge match for the Northern Union Cup. The chairman said that the Auckland League had no option as the rules of the trophy granted 50 per cent only to the challenger. The New Zealand Council also took 2i per cent of the proceeds. It was decided to reply in the terms of the challenge rules.
