GUNSHOT WOUND CAUSED DEATH OF YOUNG IMMIGRANT.

Per Proas Association. HAMILTON. June 29. Jack Smith, aged 17, employed on the farm of S. R. Harding near Matamata, was found dead in the kitchen of the homestead with a gunshot wound in his head. He came to New Zealand IS months ago under the Salvation Army immigration scheme. At the inquest at Matamata yesterday evidence was given that deceased was left in charge of the farm for the day. The verdict was that deceased died from a gunshot wound, and that there was not sufficient evidence to show whether it was self-inflicted.
