MINISTERIAL. The lion P. A. de la Perrelle and the Hon J. G. Cobbe will arrive from Invercargill this evening, and go on to Wellington by the ferry steamer. The Hon E. A. Ransom, Minister for Public Works, will pay a visit to the King Country this week. The Hon H. Atmore, Minister for Education, who has been visiting the Auckland district, has returned to Wellington. The Hon A. J. Stallworthy, Minister for Health, is expected to arrive in Christchurch from the West Coast tomorrow. Messrs W. S. Bennett (Wellington) is a recent arrival at Warner’s Hotel. Messrs L. J. Schmitt (Wellington), A. L. Temple (Waipiro Bay) and W. S. M’Kinley (London) are recent arrivals at the United Service Hotel. Mr V. J. Cornaga, inspector of agencies for Messrs John Dewar and Sons, is visiting Christchurch and is staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mr Maurice Walter Simes was admitted yesterday as a solicitor of the Supreme Court by his Honor Mr Justice Smith, on the motion of Mr A. A. M’Lachlan. Mr S. E. Fay, operating and equipment asisstant. Railway Department, Wellington, arrived from the north this morning and is staying at the United Service Hotel. Recent arrivals at the Clarendon Hotel are Messrs R. K. Ireland (Oatnaru), L. P. Cullinane (Wanganui) and E. B. Finch and G. Blakemore (Sydney). Mr T. H. M’Williams,.wireless operator of the monoplane Southern Cross, left Auckland for Sydney by the steamer Ulimaroa on Friday to rejoin Squad-ron-Leader Kingslord-Smith. Rear-Admiral W. R. Napier, R.N., arrived at Wellington yesterday en route to England, after having occupied a seat on the Royal Australian Naval Board as First Naval Member for a period of three years. Sir John Findlay, K.C., who has been suffering for some time from temporary eye trouble, is, under medical advice, leaving by the Remuera for London on Saturday next. He will be accompanied by Lady Findlay. Mr E. G. Martin (manager of the Atlantic Union Oil Company), who, accompanied by Mrs Martin," has been on a short business trip to Sydney, returned to Wellington yesterday by the Maunganui. Regret was expressed in the report of the chairman at last week's meeting of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research that the Dominion is shortly to lose the services of Mr A. L. Tonnoir, who has received an appointment in the Commonwealth Entomological Research Service. The chairman stated that Mr Tonnoir's services had proved invaluable in connection with the noxious weeds research work, , and his replacement would be a difficult matter.

Among the passengers for England by the Port Nicholson, which leaves for England to-day, are Mr Douglas Tayler, Director of Musical Education, and his wife and son. Mr Tayler is to attend the Anglo-American music conference at Lausanne in August. The object of the conference is the study and discussion of musical education from every angle. The leading authorities c-f America and the British Empire will be gathered together for a week to consider elementary and secondary school music, university music, church music, vocal teaching and choral training, pianoforte teaching, orchestral work in schools, competition festivals, etc. M. Jacques-Dalcroze, the inventor _of Eurythmics, will give a demonstration with a special class at his Geneva School. Mr and Mrs Tayler and their son will spend sbme months in England afterwards, and return to the Dominion about Christmas.
