MACHINES.
To the Editor. Dear Sir, —Isn’t it a fact that electricity is responsible for a good deal.of unemployment? Electrify a factory, and out go the firemen and enginedrivers. It means less coal to be hewn, less labour in the mines, less freight for rail and steamer, less work for carriers and truckers. Of course, no one would be foolish enough to try to stay the march of electricity, but these are hard facts.—l am, etc., OBSERVER.
