CHANGING TIME-TABLES.
BY SINBAD. One view' I cannot well avoid— The railway folk, there’s not a doubt, Must have a special staff employed To twist time-tables inside out.
By changing times and changing trains From month to month they mess along; No sooner one a knowledge gains Of railway times than it is wrong.
I’ve bought time-tables by the score And sw’otted them with labour great, But soon am forced to buy one more, For last month’s one is out of date.
So, when I seek on any day, To know about the south express, I find the only simple way Is just to make a flying guess.
Each day brings forth fresh puzzling tricks— Fresh evidence of railway wit; Why can’t these railway blighters ua One simple list and stick to it?
Such little games of chop and change Provoke the touring public’s wails; These alterations they arrange, I think, to boost time-table sales.
