“Share Thursday.”
The day before Good Friday was formerly a very busy one for the baibers. As the old name of Sher and Shere Thursday denotes, it was the custom on this day to cut the hair and beard. Caxton, in his “Liber Festivals, (1483), wrote; “On Sher Thoursday a man sholde do polle hvs here and clvppe hvs beard, so that there sholda be noth ■'•no between God and hym..*
