N.Z. STAFF OFFICER IS FOUND DEAD.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 17. The body of the Hon Lieutenant E. J. Shearme, of the New Zealand Permanent Staff, was found in a room at the military barracks in Buckle Street yesterday afternoon lying near a gas fireplace. The gas was fuff on. He was fifty-one years of age. He had been a South African veteran, ajid saw service in the Great War from 1914 to 1917. Fie had been a member of the Permanent Staff for twenty years.
