EXECUTIVE MEETS. The North Canterbury district, W.C.T.U., executive met on Wednesday, Miss Henderson presiding. Representatives attended from nineteen adult and four “ Y ” unions. Apologies for absence were received from Hokitika, Springston, Oxford and Mrs W. J. Williams. Correspondence was received from the West Coast. Mrs Ancell also wrote resigning office as president of the Spreydon “ Y ” branch, reporting seventy-five members and an energetic president appointed. The special committee meeting recently held reported that a number of speakers had been obtained to visit “Y ” branches, and a speakers’ class was suggested, also a reference library, a number of books being promised, Miss Blackwell to be in charge. Miss B. Ilarland urged members to bear in mind the forward movement, to ask and expect big things. A special committee was appointed to organise and canvass for funds. A number of unions reported a successful sale of “ bricks.” Mrs T. E. Taylor gave a brief sketch of the National Council Conference recently held at Gisborne, and also read a number of resolutions that had been passed.
