BURGESSES DISCUSS ADDINGTON AFFAIRS.
The Addington Burgesses’ Associa tion met last night. Mr W. Griffiths presided over a good attendance. The Town Clerk, Mr J. S. Neville, wrote in reply to a letter from the association in connection with several matters. The City Engineer reported that the fountain outside the post office was being damaged frequently, and if this continued the fountain would be removed. The fountain had been repaired, and the secretary of the association stated that he had seen the police about the matter, and they had promised to keep an eye on it. With respect to the grass being cut in front of Jerrold Street reserve, this was now being done. A list of name-plates for streets was being prepared. Messrs E. Parlane, F. Milner and J. Campbell were appointed representatives to attend the inspection w’hich the Mayor and members of the City Council are to hold at the Bottle Lake plantations next Thursday. A grant of £5 was voted to the Social Committee’s funds. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr E. Parlane for his gift to the associaMr W. Griffiths was elected captain, and Mr M. Clark deputy-captain, of the association’s card team.
