"HANGMAN’S HOUSE" AT LIBERTY.
Written by an Irishman, with the 6cenes set in Ireland, there is a fine atmosphere about “Hangman’s House.” Victor M’Laglen plays the role of Citizen Hogan, while June Collyer and Larry Kent have the featured romantic leads with Hobart Bosworth and Earle Foxe in strong supporting parts. The picture may be rated as one of the most spectacular John Ford has made in his seven years’ association with the Fox firm. “ Playing Straight ” is one of those films which appeal to everybody. It is not entirely dependont upon its plot to ensure its success. The vital point of this screen drama is coated over with an element of human interest which touches the heart strings and awakens fond memories in the minds of the adult population and great ambitions in the souls of youths. An interesting repertoire of music is played by the Liberty Concert Orchestra, under the baton of Mr Ernest Jamieson.
