LONDON WOOL SALES. (United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received January 31, 1 p.m.) LONDON, January 31. At the wool sales, 7136 bales were offered, of which Australia contributed 5773, and New Zealand 1140. Prices closed below best rates owing to reports of an easier market in Melbourne and Continental buyers having satisfied requirements. Merinos and best greasy generally maintained opening r a tes. Ordinary topmaking wools declined by five per cent as compared with December rates. Scoured merinos were in large supply and closed five per cent down. Cross breds—Of fine wools there was not a sufficient supply to test the market. Medium and lower sorts were five per cent below the strong opening rates. Scoureds and slipes were in good demand at opening rates.—Australian Press Association. STOCK EXCHANGE.

from London, dated January 30:— •‘The sheepskins sale opened to a full attendance of buyers, with excellent competition. America was operating. As compared with last sale, cross-breds and all qualities of full wool were from par to 5 per cent higher, half to threequarter wool fully 6 per cent, short shorn 5 per cent to 10 per cent."
